I’ve never been to a Rooftop Cinema before, but living in London it’s always been on my bucket list. When I saw a viewing of Spice World being advertised I knew it was time to call all my friends together for a bit of Girl Power.
Roof East is at the top of the Stratford Centre, a stone’s throw away from the undergound station. I’ve been living in and around Stratford for the past two years now and I can’t believe I’ve only just discovered this place!
As well as the Rooftop cinema club they have bars, food stalls, ping pong, live performances, deck chairs to sit and chill… all with the iconic Olympic Park as the back drop. It really is an ideal place to spend a summer’s evening.
When we got there it was around 7.30pm, and the sun was still out. There are lots of good drinks deals on, and so we got a half price cocktail for £4, because we tweeted about the place #spiritedmixers.
For a quick dinner, we had RockaDollar hot dogs: London’s answer to haute Posh Dogs hot dogs. We had the Yakisoba Pulled Pork Dog for £8 (a pork sausage topped with pulled pork, lime and toasted fennel slaw, yakisoba sauce and kewpie mayo). All dogs are cooked over charcoal and oak wood and served in a steamed bun for a sweet, extra light finish. It was delicious, if you see a pop up around London I’d definitely recommend – and very filling too!
So, if you want to watch a movie on a rooftop in East London, sitting on a deck chair, under a blanket with cocktails on tap and great food, and general vibes then pick Roof East.
